Happening This Week (April 18-24, 2011)

  • Tuesday, 4/19: Urban Seder, a 4-course meal to commemorate Passover.  Meal is NOT kosher. $90 for adults, including the price of wine. $75 for children. Email mattgordon@urbansolace.net to reserve a spot.
  • Tuesday, 4/19, 6pm: Deschutes Brewing from Oregon will be at Toronado, for a beer and chocolate (from Chuao Chocolatiers) pairing, with cigars in the back patio area.  The iconic Deschutes Barrel, Woody, will be parked out front also.  Check out more info and dates here.
  • Tuesday, 4/19, 7:30pm: The Greenhorns will be showing at UCSD’s The Loft.  The Greenhorns is a documentary about America’s young farming community and the grassroots organization that helps recruit, organize, and aid young farmers.  Afterwards, there will be a discussion panel with people from Suzie’s Farm and Wild Willow Farm and Jay from the Linkery.
  • Wednesday, 4/20, 4-7pm: MIHO will be at Home Brew Mart in Linda Vista, in the back, serving moroccan-spiced chicken meatballs with Sculpin herb sauce and bacon-wrapped jalapenos stuffed w/ goat cheese and andouille sausage. My mouth is watering already.
  • Wednesday, 4/20, 8pm: Art Power! Fresh Air Films and So Say We All will be collaborating to present stories about loneliness, isolation, and homesickness, inspired by the film Moon, at UCSD Price Center.
  • Wednesday, 4/20: Let’s celebrate 4/20 with a free ride from Normal Heights through South Park during the monthly San Diego DrinkAbout.
  • Thursday, 4/21: Sea Rocket Bistro will be serving a $30 4-course prix fixe meal all night (along with their regular menu). Portions of the proceeds will go to Chefs Collaborative.  They will also be featuring Eel River’s Earth Thirst double IPA, made for the event.
  • Thursday, 4/21, 5-9pm: I LOVE STUFF Trunk Show at Gorgeous Salon in North Park. Check out art, jewelry, and clothing, while listening to an all-vinyl set by DJ Skoosha, and eating food by Zensei Sushi and Sicilian Thing Pizza.
  • Friday, 4/22, 11:30am: BLAH will have Hangar 24’s Columbus IPA on cask, starting at $2 until 2pm, and progressively getting more expensive as the hours pass.
  • Friday, 4/22, 11:30am: Surfrider will be at Blind Lady Ale House for the Earth Day Organic Beer fest, with what they claim as “quite possibly the largest selection of organic beers on tap in California.”  A dollar from each beer and 15% of all food sales will go to Surfrider SD.
  • Saturday, 4/23, 2pm: Monthly Wild Willow Farm Potluck will include information on volunteer opportunities, a tour of the farm, a potluck, and live music.
  • Saturday, 4/23, 2:30-5pm: WHOA WHOA WHOA. Mission Brewing has their new tasting room up in East Village?  To celebrate, MIHO Gastrotruck will be there serving up some food while you drink!  1441 L Street.
